The operator
About KX7N
A lifelong radio operator in Elko, Nevada, still interested in what can be built, tuned, heard, and learned.
Michael Lane · KX7N
Radio has been part of my life since I was 13.
I earned my Amateur Extra license at 15 and have now held the KX7N call sign for 42 years. Through every change in equipment and technology, amateur radio has remained a place to experiment, solve problems, and meet people across distance.
I usually operate CW and FT8, with occasional PSK31 and RTTY. I also enjoy kit building and finding practical ways to improve the station.
I am a member of the Elko Amateur Radio Club. My XYL, Pam, is also an amateur radio operator: KK7UHJ.
Beyond the radio
Natural health, writing, and investment advice.
Amateur radio has been part of my life for more than four decades. Away from the shack, my work includes natural health, writing, and serving as the owner and compliance officer of a registered investment adviser.
42 years as KX7N.
The bands change. The curiosity does not.
